Ceramic-Coated Non-Stick Cookware — household safety profile

Low risk

Ceramic-coated non-stick pans marketed as PTFE/PFAS-free alternatives (GreenPan, Caraway, Our Place, etc.).

What is this product?

Ceramic-coated non-stick pans marketed as PTFE/PFAS-free alternatives (GreenPan, Caraway, Our Place, etc.). Sol-gel ceramic coating uses silicon dioxide (SiO2) base. Does not off-gas at high temperatures like PTFE. However: shorter lifespan than PTFE (1-3 years vs 5+), coating chips are inert but ingestible, some brands' claims of 'ceramic' are misleading (actually modified PTFE). Aluminum core raises questions about aluminum leaching when coating chips.
